“Feminism is hated because women are hated. Anti-feminism is a direct expression of misogyny; it is the political defense of women hating.”

I miss the 90’s

“One of the great things about our nation is that we are each entitled to have strong personal beliefs, and we encourage other people to do the same. But as a nation, we recognize the right of all people to believe as they want and not to impose our beliefs on other people. I believe that abortion should be “safe and legal” in this country. I have since the time that my mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a U.S. Senate candidate. I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years, we should sustain and support it. And I sustain and support that law and the right of a woman to make that choice. And my personal beliefs, like the personal beliefs of other people, should not be brought into a political campaign. “

- Mitt Romney, 1994

I fucking hate how women are accused of being overly emotional as if being emotional is some kind of weakness. What Veena Malik showed was pure power. It’s easy to spout off religious shoulda-woulda’s when you don’t feel anything. It’s obvious she was hurt by everything they said. Not just hurt, enraged by, and she didn’t back down. She came at them with emotion, reason and objectivity. No wonder women are taught to hide their strength. If I were a zealous tool, I’d be scared too. Women are fucking powerful and Ms. Malik makes me proud to be a woman.

FYI

Planned Parenthood

I’m sure the authors of the Pence Amendment are well aware of these numbers. The only reason they’re doing this is to lure their trusting, WWJD constituency to the poles to “save those precious babies”. So, these facts are for the rest of us. Less prevention means more abortions. Less education means more disease. It’s an uphill battle, but let’s combat extremism with objective information.

Oh, and call your senator. It takes two minutes and they need to be reminded who it is they’re representing.

No Means No

I am beyond fed up with gender bias being seen as less-than in the realm of social injustice. The threat of sexual violence is a hate crime and these students need to be punished accordingly.

Stop making light of rape. It is not funny. If you’re laughing at the systematic oppression of women, you are wrong. Educate yourself. Pass it on.
